Machine Safety at all stages of production.

Richard Greene Company Application Engineers create safety solutions using the latest technology from Banner Engineering.

Richard Greene answers with Banner "What is Intuitive Safety?"

We want our customers to know that safety doesn't have to be difficult because we make it easier. When we design safety solutions, we ensure they are easy-to-use—from installation to day-to-day system management. From aligning a light curtain with visible alignment indicators to setting up a complete safety system via our drag-and-drop safety controller GUI, customers can get up and running quickly without steep learning curves. After installation, users can more easily manage their safety system with integrated local indication and remote monitoring capabilities.

Safety Controller

Banner SC-10

Banner SC-10 Safety Controller standard control panels cost-effective, easy-to-use safety controller for smaller machines replaces the functionality of two or more safety relay modules and features an intuitive user interface and advanced diagnostic capabilities.

  • Intuitive, icon-based programming with drag-and-drop PC configuration simplifies device setup and management
  • Supports a wide range of safety devices, eliminating the need to buy and stock safety relay modules dedicated to specific safety devices
  • Two safety six amp relay outputs each with three N.O. sets of contacts
  • Ten inputs, including four that can be used as non-safe outputs
  • Automatic Terminal Optimization (ATO) can increase inputs from 10 up to 14
  • Industrial Ethernet two-way communication enables 256 virtual non-safe status outputs and 80 virtual non-safe inputs (reset, on/off, cancel off-delay, mute enable.)
  • SC-XM3 external drive for fast swap and quick configuration without a PC

Point of Operation

END-TO-END SENSING ENSURES NO GAPS IN PROTECTION

When using a safety light curtain for point of operation applications, it is critical to ensure that there are no gaps where a finger or hand could go around the protective beam of light undetected.

Many safety light curtains now feature end-to-end sensing, which means that the protective beams of light extend across the entire length of the light curtain. In the image above, you can see that the beams go all the way to the end of the light curtain, which means there are no gaps even when light curtains are cascaded together in various configurations.

If there are blind zones or other gaps, these must be taken into consideration when designing the safety system. A risk assessment is an important first step in any safety project to ensure that considerations like these are accounted for and addressed before implementation. Call 314.423.8989 for your risk assessment.

Perimeter and Access Guarding

Protect Access to Hazardous Work Areas

Perimeter guarding applications require guarding on multiple sides of the machine. Meanwhile, access guarding protects a specific access point into the hazardous area. For perimeter and access guarding, protective measures are mounted farther from the pinch point compared to point of operation applications.

Hard guards—such as fences—are a common solution, but they take up floor space and are difficult to move. Meanwhile, optical devices like safety light curtains, grids, and points save space and can be moved to meet changing requirements. Many applications use a combination of hard guards and optical safety devices for perimeter and access guarding. Let Richard Greene design a system for you.

Safe Start and Stop

Safety and Indication for Machine Start/Stop

Operators must be able to safely start machine processes as well as safely stop them in an emergency using a variety of safety-rated devices including emergency stop buttons, rope pulls, and two hand control devices.

Banner Engineering combines ergonomic safety-rated devices with LED indication for a more intuitive user experience and at-a-glance visual management of your safety systems.
